Chennai or Mumbai the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu and
Maharastra are a marvelous place to start on a voyage if discovery.
It is a town steeped in tradition, created by the British 350 years
ago, Tamil Nadu has fascinating temple town with magnificent shrine-
several places close to the Chennai city, Pondicherry displays its
French heritage in its seaside villas and the French names of its
streets. Thanjavur located in the fertile Kaveri delta, Thanjavur
is known as the rice bowl of Tamil Nadu, capital of the great Chola
empire for three century and later of the Thajavur Nakyaks, it is
resplendent with its striking architecture and also the home of
classical music and dance the house of exquisite bronzes,. Trichi
or Tiruchirapalli situated on the bank of the river Kavey, it was
a Chola fortification, from the second century. In Trichi the most
famous land mark, the Rock Fort Temple, it was latter ruled by the
Marathas, French, British saw ravages of wars for over a century.
We visit another side the river Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple complex
at Srirangam an island town, about 7 km from Trichi, flanked by
the river Kavery. These temples are spread over an area 60 hectares
with its 7 concentric walled section and 21 Gopuram. Madurai is
situated the bank of the river Vaigai, Madurai is one of the South
India’s oldest city. Minaskshi temple is located the heart
of the old city. The temple is dedicated the Goddess Minkshi, the
lovely consort lord Shiva himself. It is splendid example of Dravdian
architecture with gopurams covered from top to bottom with multi
coloured images of celestial beings and mythology figures. Every
evening they celebrate the ceremony of Lord Shiva & Parvati.
The sprawling Periyar tiger reserve which all falls in the southern
segment of the Western Ghats in the cardamom hills. At periyar you
may have better luck spotting a Leopard or those lower in the food
chain such as the Gaur, Sambar and Chital, Spotted Deer, next destination
is the Allepey (Alappuzha) the back water of the Keral’s Allepey.
Perhaps the most famous Keral’s icons. In this unique fresh
and salt water eco-system, life in Kuttanad is lived at a deliciously
slow pace. Overnight enjoying the back water at Alleypey. Cochin
is the biggest city in Kerala. Where you will enjoying the beaches
and local markets. Udhagamandalam -picturesque hill towns. The most
crowed city of Bangalore and Maysore reflect the royal heritage
of Karnataka. |
